Work built around a decision

I help teams answer questions that sit between marketing, customer behavior, and data systems. The first step is defining the decision. The second is checking whether the available records can support it. A model or dashboard comes later, if it is useful.

An initial conversation is useful when you have campaign, lead, customer, sales, document, or spreadsheet records but cannot connect them into a reliable answer.

Discuss a measurement problem

Campaign and revenue measurement

Questions this work addresses

  • Which campaigns are associated with verified customers and revenue?
  • Where do prospects stop moving from exposure to lead, visit, or purchase?
  • Is a high acquisition cost justified by later customer value?
  • Which records are missing before the business can compare campaigns?

Work and deliverables

I join campaign, lead, visit, offer, and sales records where the identifiers permit it. I define the measures before building the report, including what counts as a lead, verified visit, conversion, and attributable revenue.

The deliverable may include a measurement map, cleaned analysis table, campaign comparison, funnel report, and a written account of the conclusions the records do and do not support.

This work measures recorded attribution. I reserve claims about incremental effect for holdout periods, comparison groups, or another design that supports them.

Read the lead conversion and offline attribution case study.

Prospect and demand analysis

Questions this work addresses

  • Which existing prospects should receive follow-up first?
  • Which audience, offer, event, or product category deserves a small test?
  • Which basket combinations are associated with higher ticket values?
  • What should the business compare before increasing spending?

Work and deliverables

I score or group prospects from existing business records, compare response across those groups, and document the fields behind the ranking. For demand work, I combine transaction, audience, platform, or local-market records and turn the finding into a test the business can observe.

The deliverable may include a ranked contact list, demand brief, test design, outcome definition, and follow-up analysis. A ranking orders prospects. It does not prove why a person converts.

Read the demand analysis case study.

Document search and data workflows

Questions this work addresses

  • Can analysts find relevant passages in prior reports without searching every file?
  • Can a language model draft an explanation without calculating the business figures?
  • Can inconsistent spreadsheets become a repeatable reporting input?
  • Which records failed validation, and where did they come from?

Work and deliverables

For document search, I separate ingestion, retrieval, drafting, and evaluation. The system returns source passages so the user can inspect the evidence behind an answer.

For reporting workflows, I import, join, standardize, and validate source files. Invalid records stay available with their source and failure reason instead of disappearing during cleaning.

Deliverables may include a retrieval prototype, evaluation set, data dictionary, validation rules, database tables, recurring report, or technical documentation.

Read the document retrieval case study or inspect the spreadsheet consolidator.

Engagement shape

Most projects can begin with a bounded diagnostic:

  1. Define the decision and the people who will use the result.
  2. Inspect the available records and identifiers.
  3. Write the measures, comparisons, and known limitations.
  4. Build the smallest report, model, or workflow that can answer the question.
  5. Review the output with the people responsible for acting on it.

If the first project reveals a recurring need, the work can continue as implementation, measurement review, or ongoing reporting. I do not publish fixed prices because the effort depends on record quality, access, and the comparison required.
