Demand Analysis and Event Launch

Decision question

A cafe needed a reason for people to visit regularly. The question was which event format had visible local demand but limited supply, and whether the business could test that format without committing to a large program first.

Records used

I combined posts and event listings from Reddit and Meetup with local event availability and the business's recorded foot traffic. The online records showed how people described the activity they wanted and how often comparable events appeared nearby.

Work performed

I collected and reviewed language connected with social events, language learning, and recurring meetups. The analysis identified language exchange as an underserved category with visible audience interest.

The output was a testable recommendation: run language-exchange events, observe attendance, and compare the following quarter with the earlier operating period. The business launched the format and later used related demand analysis for trivia and karaoke programming.

Observed result

Recorded foot traffic doubled within one quarter after the language-exchange launch. The business moved from operating losses toward a viable event-led model, and the earlier work helped inform a later asset sale and successor concept.

Business use

The finding changed the product offered by the business. Marketing shifted from promoting a general cafe visit to promoting a scheduled social reason to attend. The event also created a repeatable unit for later audience, offer, and campaign comparisons.

What the result does not establish

This was a before-and-after operational comparison, not a randomized test. The records do not isolate the language-exchange event from seasonality, other promotion, changes in management, or local demand during the quarter. The result shows what happened after launch and why the business retained the format. It does not prove that the event alone caused the full increase.
